Robotics 2025 WK 1
Rockford Robotics Wk1 Recap 2025
Last Saturday, local High School Robotics Team “2039 Rockford Robotics” kicked off their season with the International release of this year’s game: REEFSCAPE.
As soon as the game was released students tore into this year’s rule book where they broke down how to score. As such they quickly decided to focus this year’s robot on scoring the “Algae” first as moving the 16 inch diameter Kickballs into the “Processor” (Goal) scores 6 points per goal, and if both teams score 2 balls into the processor it provides the team with a ranking point which will help the team to place better during qualification matches. Then the students decided our secondary goal was to be able to score “Coral” (segments of PVC Pipe) on the reef Reef for 4 points each.
Armed with this game plan, some of the students began working on the end effector to control the Algae by testing different sizes, shapes, and wheels on the manipulator. As for this year’s drivetrain, the students plan to use Swerve Modules to once again allow movement in any direction during the course of a match which should help in alluding to the opponent's defense, as well as aid in alignment for scoring game elements. At the end of the week, the Students made a CAD (Computer Aided Design) model of the End Effector, went over plans for this coming week and took a team Photo of the students.
As always thank you for following along with the Team’s Progress. We look forward to sharing this season with you and are proud to have Woodward as a sponsor for the team.
Sincerely,
Rockford Robotics– Building Better People, One Robot at a Time.
