A Name in the making

The Superbowl was never meant to be a permanent name. The only reason it even exists is due to Kansas City Chiefs’ owner Lamar Hunt, who came up with the term as a private joke after seeing his children playing with a bouncy ball called “The Super Ball”.  Yet the name was short and recognizable so from the Third year on “The SuperBowl '' became the official name of the event –much to the chagrin of both the AFL (American Football league) and NFL who did not want to be associated with a children’s toy.
