#363 Citron City

 Fun Fact #363

Citron City

Long ago in The Roman Empire rumors spread of a yellow fruit with amazing properties yet it was extremely rare. It could turn the breath sweet, prevent moths from damaging clothes and even cure those infected with poison. This Fruit was known as the Citron and it was the first member of the Rue family to be introduced to Europe. It amazingly did have the properties it was claimed to, thanks in large part to the high concentrations of Citrus which would discourage bugs, and if eaten raw could induce vomiting –expelling any recently ingested poisons. Later Lemons would be bred from Citrons to have a smooth thin skin, have more internal flesh, and a weaker zest to reduce the queasy effect induced.

Surprisingly, The original species of Citron still exists and is used in everything from expensive perfumes, to Italian soft drinks called “Cedrata”.
