The impossible task

We have all faced tasks which seemed impossible at the time, yet we persevered and often we came out on top. This was the case for the Ancient Greeks as well, and to teach this they created the tale of Hercules’s 5th labor: Cleaning the Augean Stables in a single day.

The Stables were massive and hadn’t been cleaned in over ten years, yet if Hercules was ever to be forgiven for his crime, it would have to be done. Hercules would wind up diverting a river to wash through the stables, cleaning it and fertilizing the barren fields which lay just beyond.
