The Nemean Lion

In Ancient Greece Hercules faced a notorious man-eating Lion with invincible skin by choking it to death, or so the Myth goes. However there are no European lions so where did the myth come from? 

The Myth comes from Hercules’ 12 Labors which were meant to teach lessons and entertain those who heard it. The First of these was that of the Nemean Lion which symbolized Ego, as it could not be defeated by any weapons or Methods Hercules was familiar with but rather with Wrestling. This showed the listener that their Ego could blind them and if their approach was not adapted then it could be their undoing.
