Fun Fact #307 Herod The Builder

 Fun Fact #306

Herod The Builder

Throughout much of his life King Herod built up Judea, but after his friend Mark Antony lost Rome to Cesar Agustus, Herod grew paranoid. He would switch from building roads and towns, to building a line of Fortresses throughout the land. These were no ordinary fortresses either, as most were built atop plateaus with natural springs of water allowing them to hold off attacks until their food stores ran out. Eventually, Herod’s paranoia would devolve into madness resulting in his order to kill all those under 2 years old in Bethlehem and he died shortly afterwards.
