Garrett’s Legacy
Although Garrett Morgan Jr. is still remembered today for his kindness and personal efforts. The NAACP remembers him as their treasurer and for providing much of the profit from his inventions for The Civil Rights movement. He was inducted into “The International Society Of Fire Engineers” for his invention of the smoke hood. Schools like The Tuskegee Institute which he helped to fund continue to educate and raise up communities to this day. Also the company Mr. Morgan created --“National Safety Device Company”-- continues as one of the largest subcontractors for Safety equipment manufacturers to this day (under the name “National Safety"). All of this man with no formal education who thought he would be forgotten, but this cannot be allowed to happen. He has saved too many lives and the world would be a much darker place had he never come along.
