March Equinox

At 5:01am This past Thursday (March 20th 2025) the Sun passed 0 degrees Longitude and marks The March equinox  when Spring begins. Interestingly this also means an almost exactly 12-12 day night cycle for the day. There are three calendar systems still in use today which use the Equinox as marking the start of Their “New Year” these are: 

• The Babylonian Calendar 

• (New Years is on the First New Moon following the March Equinox)

• The Persian Calendar

• Used By Iran, The Equinox is The Start of their New Year

• The Indian National Calendar

• March 21st since this year(Leap year), Usually occurs 2 days after the March Equinox.

Additionally in Easter Sunday is calculated as The First Sunday on or after the First Full Moon following The March Equinox Meaning the Holiday can “wander” from March 22nd to April 25th depending on the year.
