Cooking Out Chaos
In 1880, The fields behind the University of Wisconsin must have seemed like madness to farmers at the time. The Professors were experimenting with Dairy, and farming in general in an effort to standardize the “Wild West of Dairy”. Here they would introduce cylindrical silos for grain storage, pasteurization, and tests for bacteria. They would even create a test for butter-fat content in milk. All of which made the University the first home of safe, and reproducible quality of cheese.
By 1887, their professor of Botany William Arnon Henry was appointed “Director of The Wisconsin Agricultural Experiment Station '' and created The College of Agriculture In Madison Wisconsin –one of the first colleges for Agriculture in the world.
