A Dairy Tale story

In 1840 Wisconsin was known for being the Wheat basket of the United States, providing 1/6th of the entire market. Yet this was not to last as bug infestation, and soil depletion was slowly lowering crop yields allowing for Minissota and Iowa to take over the Market.

Yet not all was lost as Charles Rockwell had brought cows with him from New York, allowing him to focus on just letting his fields grow naturally and the cows would produce regardless of what plants they ate. To prevent soiling for as long as possible He focused on cheese rather than butter which was more profitable. By 1899 over 90% of Wisconsin farmers would produce cheese overtaking New York as the Dairy Capital of The New World.
