Canoe who?
Dating back to 8,040 B.C. Dugout Canoes are the oldest known boat in the world. They were useful for fishing communication and movement across bodies of water. Later they would be improved in the 1560s When Native Americans showed Europeans how to make canoes from stripped bark and wooden rods. These Bark canoes were easily mass produced, surprisingly sturdy, and were light enough to be carried easily overland (Portaging) which largely eliminated the main cause of death associated with Canoes at the time, Hernias.
Today most Canoes use a modified Bark Canoe design and even have two Olympic sports based upon them. Thanks for reading and please have a wonderful day.
