 Fun Fact #335

The Ten Arrows

Between the Volga River, and the Ural mountains in central Russia, seven tribes gathered around the start of the 830A.D.  These tribes  (The Jenő, Kér, Keszi, Kürt-Gyarmat, Megyer, Nyék and Tarján) believed that they were related through Magor (brother of Hunor and Mythical Father of the Mongols) and decided to unite by swearing a blood oath to the 10 year old Álmos creating the Hetmagyar (7 arrows). Together they would oppose the incursions of the Avars only to realize that their allies The Khazars were the reason the Avars were invading when three Turcic tribes warned them.

The Hetmagyar would accept these new tribes into their fold becoming the On-Ogar (Ten Arrows) and knowing the Khazars were coming, began to search for a new home heading west in 881A.D.
