One Rocking Bird

    European Rock Pigeons have a surprisingly storied history, from being introduced by the pilgrims to helping Charles Darwin get curious as to why they had so many subspecies, their reach has been vast. They are Identified by their gray back, blueish-gray heads and the two black bands on their wings as well as calls being rolling coos. What I found most fascinating about them however is their impressive intelligence for being “Bird brained”, as feral pigeons have shown capable of recognizing up to 60 different words with the most common word they recognize being “Lays”. Which may explain why they’re known for stealing potato chips among other junk food. Today Rock Pigeons are found in most cities all over the world, which makes them sort of a gimme for bird watchers,
