The Unstoppable: Garrett Morgan

Garrett Agustus Morgan was an unassuming African American who was best known for graduating “...From the school of Hard Knocks and cruel punishment.” and his inventions which failed to sell. 

Yet that was all about to change, for on July 24th 1916 a tunnel under Lake Erie exploded trapping the miners inside with two rescue attempts ending in tragedy as the rescuers suffocated. Using his invention “The Smoke Hood” Mr. Morgan was able to breathe within the tunnels and bring 9 people to safety earning him the nickname “The Unstoppable Mr. Morgan”. Almost overnight fire stations from all over the United State began ordering his inventions. While he was finally successful he did have plans for more.
